campus catering services

Catering service on the campus of IUPUI has graduated to a
new level of excellence. Four Course Catering Service is the
latest addition to the new Campus Center and will be
supported by
University Place. With this reorganization, all catering
will be afforded the same service and quality operated
under the direction standards the campus has been provided
by University Place for 21 years.
Four
Course Catering will support on going campus activities
ranging from informal coffee and refreshment breaks to
buffet meals and distinctive table service. For
convenience, selections from the No Frills Student and
Foodworks Menus may be ordered through a new website booking
tool known as Catertrax. The Campus Specialties and FoodArt
Menus can be ordered by contacting the Four Course Catering
Office directly. Four Course Catering can also design
special menus to accommodate themed events, special menus or
meet budgetary requirements.
The new service will premier four tiers of food service,
specifically designed to meet the catering needs of the
IUPUI community. The choice will range from a student’s
no-frills menu offering casual, pick-up foods; a price
effective plan “Foodworks” offering full meal options for
campus organizations; a “Campus Center Specialties” plan
offering a mid-tier price range on a variety of catered
meals; and a high end option known as “FoodArt” presenting
catering for elegant galas, weddings, awards presentations
and special events.

Growing University Place Green – Environmental Initiatives
on the forefront
A charter
partnership with CICAP (Central Indiana Clean Air
Partnership) is just one of the many steps University
Place has taken in regards to environmental initiatives.
Sustainability is at the forefront of every company’s
mindset and it is no different for UP. The
Conference Center & Hotel has paused
and taken a look at what they can do to protect the
environment, conserve natural resources and utilize
sustainable practices in their facility, their community
and the world. University Place's sustainability
initiatives are shared by its corporate management company, Flik
Conference Centers, and owners, Indiana University.
University Place
knows that providing an environmentally friendly meeting
facility is important to their customers both on a
personal level as well as aligning with their company’s
own sustainability initiatives. Listed below are the
many ways University Place is strengthening its' green
efforts.

National Art Museum of Sport highlights the Summer Olympics
The
National Art Museum of Sport's first formal connection with
the Olympics is an exhibit organized in Mexico City during
the 1968 games. Several paintings shown Mexico City are now
in the collection housed at University Place. Two large
paintings depict Herb Elliott and Shirley Strickland at the
games in Sydney, Australia in 2000.

Hotel recognized as one of Indy's best
In a recent survey completed by
millions of TripAdvisor Travelers, University Place
Conference Center and Hotel was identified as one of the Top

Indianapolis Mayor unveils Central Indiana Clean Air
Partnership
On August 23rd
University Place hosted the launch of the Central Indiana
Clean Air Partnership. Mayor Bart Peterson and
representatives of Indianapolis’ business community attended
the event. The Charter Partners, which include Eli
Lilly & Company, the Rolls-Royce Corporation, R.W. Armstrong
and University Place Conference Center & Hotel, have
embarked on a public-private effort to improve air quality
in Central Indiana. Together they have created The Central
Indiana Clean Air Partnership (CICAP), and plan to enlist
other local businesses to commit to various actions to
reduce air pollution.
“Central Indiana’s air quality affects
us all, as individuals, as leaders, as
businesses and as a community,” said
Mayor Bart Peterson. “But it can be
difficult to understand what each of us
can do to make a difference. Through the
partnership, we’re offering businesses
clear and simple guidelines for
meaningful action.”

Fall 2007
WRTV Channel 6 has launched

Worldwide
environment experts meet at University Place
Art,
including a nine-foot tapestry, created by the Inuits of
Northern Canada, was of particular interest to the
Canadians who attended the Suez Environment Foresight
Advisory Council at University Place, May 11-12. This
included Margaret Catley-Carlson, fourth from left.
Among council members were from the left: Jacques Labre,
Paris; J. C. Goldman, Indianapolis; Dominique Pin,
Paris; Catley-Carlson; Diana Gale, Seattle; Patrick
Cairo, Huntington Park, N.J.; and Tom Brown,
Indianapolis. Suez is the parent company of United Water
which operates the Indianapolis’ wastewater treatment
facilities that have been honored for the last 10 years
by the National Association of Clean Water Agencies as
exemplar among Suez facilities around the world. The
Inuit art is part of the National Art Museum of Sport
collection.

University Place Conference Center &
Hotel awarded four diamond rating from AAA for 2nd Year.
INDIANAPOLIS – University Place Conference Center & Hotel
has, once again, been awarded a four
diamond rating by the American Automobile Association (AAA).
This rating indicates the accommodations and service are upscale
by AAA standards. The hotel was inspected by AAA and praised
for having an extensive array of amenities and maintaining a
high degree of hospitality and service.
“This rating
is a stamp of approval on the quality of our service and the
atmosphere of the property, showing the community and clientele
that we are an upscale property with great service to match,”
said Tom Cappucci, general manager, University Place. “This is a
confirmation that we are a leader in the hospitality industry
within Indiana and the surrounding Midwest region.”
The
19-year-old property completed a $13 million renovation last
year. The transformation included a complete renovation of
the hotel’s 278 guestrooms, remodeling of the property’s three
restaurants, and the redesign of some of the space used for
special events and banquets. Among the design changes for the
hotel are complimentary high speed wired and wireless Internet
access throughout the property.
University
Place is on the campus of IUPUI and adjoined by a skywalk to
University Hospital, an ideal location for meetings and
conferences geared toward leadership development, sports and life
sciences.
The conference center and hotel is owned by Indiana
University.
